So, you’ve been invited to an Ugly Sweater Party. It is inevitable, as the trend has been on the rise for several years now.
Perhaps it is a seasonally-themed ugly sweater party (i.e. an ugly Christmas sweater party, or a St Patrick’s Day ugly sweater pub crawl), or just a generic “I wear your grandad’s clothes” event (many high schools hold Ugly Sweater Day during Spirit Week).
Your dilemma: You don’t own any “ugly” clothes, let alone an “ugly sweater”.
Never fear, I can help!
Of course The Ugly Sweater Shop stocks an ever-changing selection of ugly Christmas sweaters, cat lady sweaters, Cosby sweaters, gem sweaters, and my personal favorite: vintage 80s sweaters.
BUT first: before you buy online, please hit up your local thrift shops. Why? Because it is FUN. You won’t believe the things you will find there… and since most thrift shops are charity-related, you are also helping a great LOCAL cause (click here for a list of charity-related thrift shops in your area). So grab some friends and go pop some tags!
“But the hipsters have already raided our thrift shops,” you say. Or perhaps your thrift stores try to hard to be fashionable, sadly sending out all the really ugly sweaters off other locales or to be ragged out, or even worse–to a landfill! (sad, I know!)
Or maybe, like so many of us these days, you just don’t have the time to scour the stores for the perfect ugly sweater.
In that case, definitely browse our shop. And if you need something specific you don’t see, you can contact us directly–we generally have a backlog of about 100 sweaters at any given time that haven’t yet been photographed, so we might have what you are looking for and you can snatch it up before anyone else!
But we aren’t the only kids on the ugly sweater block. Here is a list of other great websites where you can find ugly sweaters:
– Ugly Sweater Store
– Tipsy Elves (the naughtier side of Christmas sweaters)
– Rusty Zipper
– Etsy (a great source for those awesome 80s vintage sweaters)
– eBay
Or browse the #uglysweater hashtag at Wanelo.com:
(Haven’t heard of Wanelo yet? It is like Pinterest, but for shopping, and it is an awesome way to discover all sorts of little shops you didn’t know existed and things you didn’t know you needed!)
Good luck, and stay ugly, my friends!
